In 2007 a fraudster had gained funds of circ £72,000 from a major funder in order to purchase a luxury vehicle .


Monthly payments were not forthcoming and the case was referred to the recoveries team. The case remained in this area for 18 months, however the team where unable to determine the whereabouts or real  identity of the debtor.

The matter was passed for Investigation and by re-tracing over the case details further links were developed that proved fruitful. After 2 weeks of investigation the vehicle was physically found at an address in North London.

 


A court order was obtain to seize the vehicle however the current user of the vehicle was extremely  aggressive  towards the recovery team and he prevented an uplift to take place.

As suspected the vehicle was speedily driven away and “hidden” on an industrial estate.

The vehicle was tracked to this site and placed under surveillance. The local police were informed of the situation and that an uplift would be taking place.

When the area was clear the vehicle was placed onto a recovery vehicle and taken to a specified holding area.

Thereafter the vehicle was sold at auction. Our evidence was then used to assist to litigate the user of the vehicle so as to recover the shortfall.
